Spring 2010 Newsletter

TAMA-TOLEDO COUNTRY CLUB
SPRING NEWS LETTER
2010

At the time of this writing, mid-April, the course looks great and some of us have even had an opportunity to play a little.  This is a big change from previous years and hopefully the weather will continue to hold for the remainder of April and into May.  I would like to welcome back our previous members and those new members that have joined the club.  Also, it is nice to have those of you back who spent the winter in warmer areas and look forward to hearing about the great weather you experienced, while the rest of us enjoyed a winter with near record amounts of snowfall.

Reminder!  If you have paid your club dues, or when you do, please pick up a Tama-Toledo Country Club tag for your golf bag.  The bag tag is an effort by your board to make sure that persons playing the course are paid up members.  Also, persons paying green fees will be issued a different tag to be placed on their bag or cart to show that they have stopped into the club house and paid the required fees.  The board of directors ask for your assistance in reminding golfers of these rules.

Your 2010 Tama-Toledo Country Club Calendar of Events is available at the club house for you to pick up.  We owe a thank you for members who assisted in providing information for the calendar and a special thanks to Cathy Campbell Currier for her computer work and running the copies.

Please take note of upcoming events in the calendar:  STC High School Golf dates; "Spring Kickoff" April 24th; Family Golf starting on Sundays; Couples Golf starting in May; and the "May Breakfast May 4th.  Please note the club fund raiser benefit for member Tim Albright on May 1.  I am sure we all wish Tim well.

Grounds Manager Chris Eickoff has advised the board that he and Paul Duffy have completed the maintenance on equipment during the winter months and it is hoped that the club will not have to make a major purchase for equipment this year.  Thank you Chris and Paul.

A review of the activities during the winter months indicate a very nice turn out of members on Friday nights which helped support the club and provided a pleasant and relaxing evening for members.  Those of you who supplied the good food for these evenings deserve a special thank you.  And a thank you to Club Manager Todd Kenyon for his efforts in promoting Friday night activities and hosting those private parties during the winter.

John Legg has volunteered to write up a set of guidelines for conducting club sponsored Men's Golf Tournaments, which he will present to the Board of Directors at their meeting on April 21.  This is being done in an effort to provide consistency for tournament operations which has drawn some negative comments in the past.  It is hoped that those guidelines will be sent to members later.

Once again, your club will need your assistance and support in running events during the year and hope you will volunteer your time and efforts in making this year a success.

Mike Richardson, 2010 President
